UP FRONT:
🌈 Tired of Fighting Digital Nomads for $7 Coffees? Here's Where to Go Instead...
Let's be real for a second...
The OG nomad spots are getting kinda played out.
You know what I'm talking about.
Those places that were AMAZING five years ago?
Now they're basically open-air WeWork offices with better weather.
And don't get me started on the prices.
(Ever see a local and a "digital nomad" order the same coffee? The price difference will make you cry—listen for the keyword “Falang” in Thailand—that basically means you’re gonna pay more.)
But here's the thing...
While everyone's fighting over coworking space in Bali...
Some seriously great stuff is happening elsewhere.
Take Puerto Vallarta.
This place figured out the secret sauce:
• Actual local culture (not just for the 'gram)
• A legit LGBTQ+ community that feels real
• Vibes that make you feel at home, not like a tourist
And the best part?
PV's success is inspiring other spots to embrace their authentic selves.
Like Oaxaca...
Where you can still experience Mexico without it being sanitized for TikTok.
Or Portugal's hidden gems - Porto and the Algarve.
Places where you can actually hear yourself think...
And maybe even afford to eat at restaurants more than once a week.
(Revolutionary concept, I know.)
Then there's Colombia's emerging scene...
Cities like Pereira and Manizales.
Where the only "influencers" you'll meet are the local abuelas...
Who'll influence you to eat more because "you're too skinny."
(They're usually right.)
But here's the REAL secret to crushing it in these spots:
Don't be a dick.
Learn a few words in the local language (seriously). And pronounce them well—not like a tacky tourist.
Show some basic respect.
When I lived in Thailand, my vocabulary was basically:
• Hello
• Thank you
• Where's the bathroom
• This food is amazing
• Soda water (my go-to beverage)
That's it.
But you know what?
Those few words opened more doors than any "digital nomad skillset" ever could.
Because here's what nobody tells you about the nomad life:
The magic isn't in finding the perfect coworking space...
Or the most Instagrammable cafe...
It's in those random moments when you're actually connecting with people.
When you stop being a "digital nomad"...
And start being a human being who happens to work from cool places.
So yeah...
The world's still full of amazing spots to explore.
Places where you can actually afford to live...
Build real connections...
And maybe even find a community that feels like home.
Whether that's in established spots like PV...
Or in some quiet corner of Portugal where your rent doesn't cost more than your parents' mortgage.
The choice is yours.
Just remember:
The best spots aren't always the ones with the most hashtags.
Sometimes they're the places where you can just... be.
And isn't that the whole point?
So…where’s your next destination, PrideNomad?

PERSPECTIVES:
The USA Feels Like Black Mirror Now (Why Digital Freedom Changes Everything)
Ever feel like you're living in a simulation?
That's what hit me hard during my recent time back in the States.
I'm sitting in an "American restaurant"...
Staring at this processed, lifeless food...
And all I can think about is Bangkok street food at 2 AM.
The REAL flavors.
The actual QUALITY.
At a fraction of the price.
But it's not just about the food.
Living abroad doesn't just change WHERE you live...
It rewires your entire operating system.
Here's what I mean:
In Sydney (my soul's true home)...
Success isn't measured by how close you are to burnout.
In Bangkok (food paradise of the universe)...
People actually ENJOY their meals instead of racing between Zoom calls.
And that's when it hit me:
Freedom isn't about location or money.
It's about PERSPECTIVE.
Here are 3 truths that changed everything:
1. The Time Truth
Most people trade time FOR money.
Digital nomads trade skills FOR freedom.
The laptop becomes your passport to possibility.
2. The Value Shift
Make two lists:
• What lights you up inside
• What dims your light
Now imagine designing your life around list #1.
(That's what being location independent gives you.)
3. The Freedom Formula
True freedom isn't about escaping responsibility...
It's about creating work that funds your adventures.
The best part?
Every PrideNomad started exactly where you are right now.
Reading posts like this.
Dreaming of more.
Until they decided to make "someday" into "today."
What you need to realize:
The "normal" path isn't the only path.
It's a choice.
And you can make a different one.
Starting now.
Reply and tell me where YOU dream of working from...
(My vote? Sydney sunset followed by Bangkok street food. But I'm biased. 😉)
Let’s make the world your playground!
P.S. And if anyone tries to tell you American food is "just as good"...
Just smile and nod.
They clearly haven't had pad kra pao at 2 AM in Bangkok.

Banana & Egg Roti on the street in Bangkok. Hot. Fresh. Yummmmm!
Or banana & egg roti that makes you question everything you thought you knew about dessert.
Their loss. 🤷♂️
