Discover the Magic of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival: A Must-Visit for 🌈 PrideNomads
Looking for your next adventure?
Consider the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Held every August since 1947, this month-long celebration of art and culture always delivers an unforgettable experience.
A Cultural Extravaganza
The Fringe is the largest arts festival of its kind in the world. With thousands of performances (this year there are over 3,282 listed in the directory) spanning theatre, comedy, dance, circus, cabaret, and more, there’s something for everyone.
It’s an Inclusive Paradise.
You’ll find a host of LGBTQ+ performers showcasing their talents, from camp and risqué to acts with messages that may flare your emotions. As of today, the Fringe directory lists 132 performances specifically listed as LGBTQ+.
Not to be missed is a trip to the Kaye Hole with the incredible Rueben Kaye who defies definition—and puts on a show that you’ll never forget (read below for a business lesson).
A performance you’ll never forget. Rueben Kaye at last year’s Fringe.
Yes, the Fringe can be totally over the top. And boy is it FUN!
Co-Working Spaces for Digital Nomads
Balancing work and play is crucial, and as a University city, Edinburgh has excellent co-working spaces.
The Office offers a lively vibe with regular events while CodeBase is chill and tech-focused. You can even check out the Edinburgh Central Library as another option.
We recommend you get your business tasks out of the way in the morning, then dedicate your afternoons and evenings to the Fringe festivities.
Explore Edinburgh's Charm
Beyond the festival, Edinburgh is a city that charms at every corner. Wander through the cobblestone streets of Old Town, visit the historic Edinburgh Castle, or take a walk up Arthur’s Seat for breathtaking views. The mix of historic and modern makes Edinburgh a fascinating place to explore (though to be totally honest, I’ve never seen any of those places—I’ve been too busy seeing Fringe shows!).
A Couple of Important Fringe Tips
Book Early!
The best accommodations fill up fast. There are some excellent deals on student housing that’s a short walk from most Fringe venues.
Check out your favorite booking sites for the best deals (trivago.com, booking.com, expedia.com for instance).
Become a Friend of the Fringe.
As a “Friend of the Fringe”, you can get 2 for 1 tickets, which can be quite an advantage while you’re there! For instance, during last year’s Fringe, PrideNomad Mom and I saw 37 performances over 6 days (yes, that's over 6 shows a day!), so 2 for 1 tix can be handy!
Check out PrideNomad Mom & I at the Fringe…

Nymphia Winds Are Blowing Rainbows
Recently we reported that RuPaul Drag Race winner Nymphia Wind received public congrats from the President of Taiwan. That was a groundbreaking acknowledgment of our community and it sent a message of inclusion and respect.
But it didn’t end there. Nymphia was invited to actually perform at the Presidential Offices, and she put on quite the show! Bottom line—if Taiwan wasn’t on your list of places to visit before, we recommend that you add it now.
Let’s support the places that respect and celebrate our community! Click the photo to check out her performance.

THE KEY TO BUSINESS SUCCESS
How to Build Instant Rapport (and Turn it into Profit)
It’s been said that people do business with those that they know, like and trust.
Today’s markets are filled with competition…from people that may be smarter and more advanced than you are (at least that may be the lie you tell yourself).
So if you feel outgunned and out-teched, how can you set yourself up for success?
Be Nice.
Yes, those two words can be the cornerstone of your most powerful advantage.
Case in point:
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival has over 3,200 different performances competing for attention. How do performers fill their shows?
For many, it comes down to word of mouth, hawkers on the streets passing out flyers (for real) and posters placed everywhere.
But one performer has created a loyal, enthusiastic global cult following.
How does he do it? Aside from delivering a superior product (his performances), he greets his customers (the audience) at the door as they enter the venue.
He says “Welcome Home” and gives his loyal fans a hug.
He makes them feel important. He makes us feel connected.
Here’s the best part…by welcoming each member of the audience, he creates a safe, friendly environment that’s the foundation of a terrific show.
And of course, the terrific show creates word of mouth referrals, which fills more shows…and so on and so on.
When PrideNomad Mom attended one of his shows last year, this performer greeted her with the same enthusiasm and intimacy that might be reserved for his own mother.
It’s this element of human connection that can create a lasting, endearing connection with your audience…your prospects and clients.
And this is one reason why Reuben Kaye’s shows are typically sell-outs, whether at the Fringe or elsewhere around the world. And why I never miss the chance to see him in action.
So here’s the lesson—ask yourself how you can create the same welcoming, safe space for your prospects and customers—so that they can feel special…and when they feel special…when they feel seen and respected…that’s when you can create customers for life!

NOMAD HACK:
Here’s a quick one:
When you’re looking for a great place to get some work done in your travels, consider going to the library.
Public libraries are quiet and they typically have free wifi available. They may also have meeting rooms available for you to hold zoom meetings (often at no charge).
You may also find some stunningly gorgeous facilities that will completely inspire you (the State Library in Adelaide, Australia, for instance).
State Library, Adelaide. Beats sitting a coffee shop!
